Gochang-gun to Conduct 'Economic Census' Until the 30th of Next Month

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun (Governor Yu Gisang) announced on the 17th that it will conduct an economic census targeting about 5,100 businesses in the area until the 30th of next month.

The economic census is a national basic statistical survey conducted every five years, supervised by the Statistics Korea.

In particular, statistics are compiled at the small area (eup/myeon) level and linked with geographic information systems to be used for customized regional policy formulation and development.

The survey is divided into common items (13 items) such as the number of employees and industry-specific characteristic items (24 items) such as whether transactions are conducted on digital platforms.

This year’s county economic census will be conducted through non-face-to-face surveys such as internet, email, and fax, as well as face-to-face visits by professional investigators, considering the COVID-19 situation.

The internet non-face-to-face survey can be easily accessed via the website only by pre-registered applicants until the 9th of next month, and businesses that do not participate will be visited directly by 17 investigators for face-to-face surveys.

Governor Yu Gisang said, “Since the economic census is used as policy data for government and county industrial promotion, we ask for active promotion by each department and cooperation from businesses.”
