[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hyundai Oilbank received the Grand Prize at the preliminary round of the Corporate Service Improvement Best Practices Competition hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and will represent the Seoul region in the finals.
On the 17th, Hyundai Oilbank announced that it won the Grand Prize at the '2021 Seoul Quality Circle Competition' with the theme 'Reducing Maintenance Costs by Changing Car Wash Operation Methods.'
The 'Quality Circle Competition,' held annually since 1975, is organized by the Korea Standards Association and hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s National Institute of Technology and Standards and Ulsan Metropolitan City. The competition discovers and rewards cases where companies solve problems occurring on-site to improve quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction. This aims to improve the overall quality level of the industry through sharing and spreading best practices.
In the Seoul regional preliminary held in June this year, a total of 16 public enterprises, large corporations, and mid-sized companies, including Seoul Metro and DB Insurance, participated. Hyundai Oilbank’s 'GO Blue, DO Clean' quality circle will compete as the Seoul regional representative at the 47th National Quality Circle Competition, the final round held in Ulsan in August.
'GO Blue, DO Clean' is the slogan of Hyundai Oilbank’s gas station environmental improvement activity called ‘Blue Clean.’ Since 2020, all employees within the sales headquarters have participated in this initiative to provide high-quality service based on a safe and clean store environment.
As the Blue Clean activity for gas station environmental improvement gained momentum, Hyundai Oilbank is expanding it into an eco-friendly management initiative at the sales headquarters level. The company aims to simultaneously achieve environmental protection and secure future growth by transforming the entire value chain within the headquarters?from product development to sales network to general consumers?into an environmentally friendly system.
Han Hwan-gyu, Head of Sales Headquarters at Hyundai Oilbank, stated, "We plan to expand these activities to build eco-friendly business models, including installing Hyundai Homes to prevent soil contamination, establishing hydrogen and electric charging infrastructure, and developing eco-friendly marine fuels and lubricants."
