[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) jointly held an online "Central Asia Entry Strategy Seminar" with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the 16th.
At the seminar, trends in the rapidly growing energy and infrastructure industries in Central Asia were shared, along with promising entry strategies recommended by the EBRD such as green infrastructure and hospital modernization projects. Information on international procurement market entry was also provided to Korean companies.
Susanna Hargitai, EBRD Managing Director in charge of Central Asia, stated, "EBRD is the institution supporting the most investments in the Central Asia region, having carried out over 6,000 projects since 1991." She added, "As there are various business opportunities including eco-friendly projects for sustainable development in Central Asia recently, we look forward to the participation of Korean companies with excellent technology in EBRD projects."
Cho Hak-hee, Head of the International Business Division at KITA, emphasized, "Since gaining independence in 1991, Central Asia has been one of the fastest-growing regions in the world and is a promising market to replace the China-centered supply chain weakened after COVID-19." He added, "As government-led multifaceted infrastructure development and industrial modernization efforts are actively promoted, there are many open opportunities for our companies."
