[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Six kittens were found brutally killed in an open space at Olympic Park in Songpa-gu, Seoul. The discovered bodies were reportedly scattered around the scene as if on display.
On the 16th, the animal rights organization CARE posted on Facebook, "The babies peacefully nursing from their mother were mercilessly killed one after another," adding, "This is a horrific murder incident that occurred at the feeding spot where a mother cat and six kittens lived."
According to CARE, the serial killing of the kittens began on the 25th of last month. At that time, a kitten's body was found with only its head remaining in the park. On the 1st, another kitten was found dead from an unknown cause.
Then, on the 6th, two kittens were found with their limbs severed and their heads crushed as if struck with a blunt object. The severed heads were laid out as if on display. On the 8th, a kitten's body was found dead with its organs removed.
The last remaining kitten was also found on the 11th, tied with a snare and with its organs extracted. On that day as well, the perpetrator displayed the removed organs scattered around.
CARE urged, "All nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage should be investigated, and local governments should simultaneously hang banners in the area to prevent danger to the remaining cats," requesting citizens to protest.
