[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] On the 16th, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang visited the Korea-China joint industrial complex located in Northeast China and stated, "China welcomes more foreign small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to invest in China."

Premier Li reportedly made these remarks during a meeting with Korean company executives at the "Korea-China International Cooperation Pilot Zone" in Changchun, Jilin Province.

He further expressed a welcoming attitude toward foreign SMEs, saying, "China will treat everyone without discrimination," and added, "Only when SMEs cover the land can large enterprises truly support the sky and stand tall."

He also said, "The government will consider solutions to common problems faced by SMEs," and "We will ensure they can accumulate sustainable development momentum."

The Korea-China International Cooperation Pilot Zone received approval from the Chinese State Council in April last year and held its inauguration ceremony two months later, with nearly 700 Chinese and foreign companies settled there. China plans to link this pilot zone with Korea's New Northern Policy and focus on attracting advanced equipment industries, smart manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and medical care, and health food industries. In the short term, the pilot zone will be developed on a scale of 36㎢, with plans to expand it to 210㎢ in the long term.
