[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] A plan to relocate the Daegu Islamic Temple, whose construction was halted due to resident opposition, to another location has been proposed, drawing attention to the outcome.

According to Daegu Buk-gu Office on the 16th, during the second closed-door negotiation on the construction of the Islamic Temple held in the district office meeting room that afternoon, the building owner side tentatively agreed to explore relocating the temple to an alternative building such as a commercial building.

A Buk-gu Office official said, "The building owner showed a positive stance toward the proposal to relocate to another place, such as a commercial building along the main road, on the premise that the district office purchases the new site in Daehyeon-dong."

The district office explained that the current Daehyeon-dong site is in the middle of a residential area, which has led to continuous resident complaints.

It is reported that the building owner added the condition that the new location must be within walking distance from Kyungpook National University in response to the district office's proposal.

Kyungpook National University is known to have Muslim master's and doctoral students from various countries.

Resident representatives who attended the negotiation reportedly showed a positive response to the plan to move the Islamic Temple outside the residential area.

Buk-gu Office had approved the construction of the Islamic Temple in Daehyeon-dong in September last year, but construction was halted in February due to resident opposition.
