[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that from midnight to 6 p.m. on the 16th, a total of 183 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Seoul over an 18-hour period.
Compared to the same time frame, this is 6 more cases than the previous day (15th) with 177 cases, and 7 fewer than the same day last week (9th) which had 190 cases. The total number of cases for the entire day was 201 on the 15th and 212 on the 9th. The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul has fluctuated between the 100s and 200s for over two months since April.
Among the new confirmed cases in Seoul, 2 were imported from overseas, and the remaining 181 were domestic infections. Additional confirmed cases by cluster infection are as follows: 2 cases at a workplace in Songpa-gu (June), 1 case at Garak Market in Songpa-gu, 1 case at a workplace in Jung-gu (third cluster in June), 1 case at a workplace in Dongdaemun-gu (June), and 7 cases from other cluster infections. Additionally, 101 cases were infected through contact with individual confirmed patients, and 68 cases are under investigation due to unclear infection routes.
The cumulative number of confirmed cases in Seoul as of 6 p.m. on the 16th is 47,115. The total number of cases for the entire day will be compiled as of midnight on the 17th and announced in the morning.
