[Yeongam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Jeon Dong-pyeong, the governor of Yeongam County, personally participated in the rice planting event for Unification Rice organized by the Yeongam County Farmers' Association on the 15th to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the June 15th North-South Joint Declaration.
According to Yeongam County on the 16th, this rice planting event for Unification Rice, held for the ninth time, is an ongoing event conducted to commemorate the June 15th North-South Joint Declaration and to create a breakthrough in the deadlocked inter-Korean relations at the civilian level.
Governor Jeon and the participants carried out the rice planting with sincerity, planting the seeds of peaceful unification amid the rain.
Governor Jeon Dong-pyeong said, “On this meaningful occasion, I hope that the farmers' desire for inter-Korean cooperation will be realized in the agricultural sector as well, and we will do our best to foster eco-friendly agriculture, which boasts the largest area nationwide.”
Meanwhile, the Yeongam County Farmers' Association, which organized this event, holds various policy meetings and events in the agricultural sector and actively pursues civilian-level efforts for peace settlement between North and South Korea, such as the campaign to send unification tractors and the Unification Rice planting event.
