[Muan＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 16th that it signed a happiness win-win business agreement with SPC Group, a comprehensive food company, on the 15th to promote the consumption of Muan onions.

SPC Group operates various leading brands in the industry such as Paris Baguette, Baskin Robbins, Dunkin Donuts, and SPC Samlip, and is a representative domestic comprehensive food company that has expanded into six overseas countries including the United States and China.

The signing ceremony was attended by Governor Kim San, SPC Group CEO Hwang Jae-bok, Lee Jung-hee, chairman of the Paris Baguette Franchisee Association, Song Jeong-hoon, head of sales, and Baek Seung-hoon, head of purchasing, and proceeded with an annual purchase contract of 600 tons of onions, commemorative photo session, and gift exchange.

Based on this agreement, SPC Group will launch new products made from Muan onions at 3,400 Paris Baguette stores nationwide over the next three months until August.

Through this agreement, the company expects to increase sales by launching new products made from high-quality Muan onions, and local onion farmers will be able to secure stable agricultural product distribution channels.

Governor Kim San said, “This agreement has become an opportunity for Muan onions, produced in the germanium-rich Muan loess soil and known for their excellent taste and quality, to get closer to consumers,” adding, “I would like to thank SPC Group for signing a large-scale onion purchase contract to help local farmers who are struggling due to COVID-19, and we will continue to do our best to expand agricultural product distribution channels.”

Meanwhile, on the 11th of last month, Muan County signed a business agreement and a purchase contract for 42 tons of onions with Korea Ginseng Corporation to promote the consumption of Muan onions and activate new product development and sales.
