[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The South Korean Olympic football team, led by coach Kim Hak-bum, won 2-1 against Ghana in the second friendly match held at Jeju World Cup Stadium at 8 p.m. on the 15th.

South Korea took the field in a 4-2-3-1 formation, placing Oh Se-hun (Gimcheon) as the lone forward and Lee Kang-in as the attacking midfielder. Jo Young-wook (Seoul) and Jung Woo-young (Freiburg) started on the left and right wings respectively, while Baek Seung-ho (Jeonbuk) and Kim Dong-hyun (Gangwon) controlled the midfield. The defensive line consisted of Kang Yoon-sung (Jeju), Lee Ji-sol (Daejeon), Jung Tae-wook (Daegu), and Kim Tae-hwan (Suwon), with An Chan-gi (Suwon) guarding the goal.

South Korea continuously threatened Ghana’s goal with Lee Kang-in’s sharp penetrating passes, Jung Woo-young’s active wing breakthroughs, and Oh Se-hun’s dynamic link-up play across the second line.

The opening goal came in the 41st minute of the first half from Jung Woo-young’s foot. Oh Se-hun connected Kim Dong-hyun’s forward pass with a non-stop penetrating pass, creating a scoring chance for Jo Young-wook who rushed into the box.

Jo Young-wook’s shot hit the left goalpost, and Jung Woo-young, positioned on the left side of the goal area, followed up with a shot that rippled the net.

Coach Kim made substitutions at the start of the second half, bringing on Won Doo-jae, Seol Young-woo, and Lee Dong-jun for Baek Seung-ho, Kim Tae-hwan, and Jo Young-wook.

South Korea conceded an equalizer just six minutes into the second half after failing to stop Ghana’s counterattack. Osman Bukari received the ball on the right side of the goal area and passed it into the box, where Joseph Barnes scored to make it 1-1.

At the 18th minute of the second half, Coach Kim called Jung Woo-young, Lee Kang-in, and Kang Yoon-sung off the field, sending on Lee Seung-woo (Sint-Truiden), Lee Dong-gyeong (Ulsan), and Kim Jin-ya.

The winning goal was created by the substitutes Lee Dong-gyeong and Lee Dong-jun, both from Ulsan. Lee Dong-gyeong delivered a penetrating pass near the halfway line, and Lee Dong-jun finished with a right-footed shot from the right side of the goal area.

Coach Kim substituted Oh Se-hun for Eom Won-sang (Gwangju) at the 35th minute of the second half.

Ghana’s Jonah Attuquaye was sent off with a red card in the 45th minute of the second half after deliberately striking Lee Seung-woo on the back of the head during a ball contest.

Kim Hak-bum’s team will disband the next day and return to their clubs. They will regroup on the 22nd, with the final Tokyo Olympic roster expected to be confirmed on the 30th.
