[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam County, Jeollanam-do, is expanding its public job projects in the second half of the year to overcome the economic downturn caused by COVID-19 and to create jobs for youth and other employment-seeking groups.
According to the county on the 15th, a total of 1.9 billion KRW will be invested in the second half of this year to provide 328 public jobs. In particular, priority will be given to selecting young people to focus support on generations facing difficulties in employment due to the economic downturn after COVID-19.
The main project, the Youth Work Experience Dream Project, will select a total of 30 people who will be assigned to major departments and divisions of the county office to support tasks such as building data related to county administration projects.
The Hope Flower Bed Creation Youth Manager will recruit 14 people in total for on-site work responsible for creating and managing small-scale flower beds along roadsides and unused village land in each eup and myeon.
In addition, there are 84 public labor jobs for creating flower beds in tourist sites and eup/myeon areas, 95 jobs for disinfection at major facilities and eup/myeon, 3 jobs supporting vaccination, 78 jobs for fever checks and disinfection support in daily quarantine, and 24 jobs in local community employment.
Selected candidates will be provided jobs for four months from August 2 to November 30. Working conditions include an hourly wage of 8,720 KRW, paid weekly holidays and annual paid leave, snack allowance, and the four major social insurances.
Eligibility requires applicants to be residents of the county as of the project start date, aged 18 or older with work ability, with priority given to youth aged 49 or younger. However, applicants must be members of households with two or more people whose income is below 65% to 70% of the median income standard per project (120% for single-person households) and whose assets are less than 300 million KRW.
Those wishing to participate in the job program should bring their ID and visit the eup or myeon office responsible for their address to apply by the 25th. Detailed information can be found on the Haenam County Job Support Center online platform, the county website’s notices and announcements section, and the Sotongnet platform.
A county official said, “We hope the public job projects will help many residents struggling due to COVID-19, and we will do our best to revitalize the local economy by providing more public jobs.”
