[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The People Power Party has demanded that Vice Chairman An Seong-wook also recuse himself from duties, following Chairperson Jeon Hyun-hee of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, in relation to the full-scale investigation of real estate by its members.

On the 15th, Kang Min-guk, the floor spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated, "Chairperson Jeon Hyun-hee of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission caused controversy over fairness and neutrality but belatedly announced that she would recuse herself from the full-scale investigation of real estate transactions involving the People Power Party," adding, "It is fortunate that Chairperson Jeon has now declared she will recuse herself from the investigation concerning the People Power Party, but political bias controversies still remain."

Kang further said, "Vice Chairman An, appointed by the Blue House on the 10th, served as deputy head of the legal support team in President Moon Jae-in’s 2017 election campaign and registered as a preliminary candidate for both the general and local elections under the Democratic Party," emphasizing, "He is inevitably a figure subject to political neutrality controversies."

He added, "If Vice Chairman An does not recuse himself, he will serve as the head of the Special Investigation Team on Real Estate Transactions overseeing the investigation," and stated, "As Chairperson Jeon mentioned, if the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission truly wants to conduct a fair and politically independent investigation, Vice Chairman An must also be made to recuse himself from the investigation."
