[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] Booyoung Housing announced on the 15th that it converted its safety and health management system certification to 'KOSHA-MS' on the 25th of last month.

Booyoung Housing has been operating with the 'KOSHA 18001' certification obtained in June 2019 and conducted this certification transition according to the new standards. Booyoung Housing explained that it is significant to be the leading general construction company holding the 'KOSHA 18001' certification to switch to 'KOSHA-MS'.

KOSHA-MS is a certification that proves a workplace has a system for planning, support, execution, performance evaluation, and improvement to establish a safety and health management system. The existing safety and health management system certification 'KOSHA 18001' has been updated to reflect the international standard 'ISO 45001', making the criteria stricter.

To obtain the KOSHA-MS certification, Booyoung Housing mandated the installation of system scaffolding at all sites nationwide to reduce the possibility of industrial accidents. The company is also focusing on regularizing safety managers as full-time employees.

Choi Yang-hwan, CEO of Booyoung Housing, said, “Since safety accidents are recognized as a corporate social responsibility, thorough safety management must be carried out through the establishment and understanding of an efficient system,” adding, “All employees must recognize that safety is the company’s competitiveness.”
