Prosecution Grants Suspension of Indictment to Doosan Group 4th Generation Park Jin-won on 'Propofol Injection' Charges

Prosecution Grants Suspension of Indictment to Doosan Group 4th Generation Park Jin-won on 'Propofol Injection' Charges Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, Seocho-dong, Seoul.

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin] The prosecution has decided to suspend indictment against Park Jin-won, the 4th generation of the Doosan family and Vice Chairman of Doosan Mecatec, who was under investigation for administering propofol.

According to the legal community on the 14th, the Violent Crime Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Won Ji-ae) issued a suspension of indictment against Vice Chairman Park at the end of last month on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. Suspension of indictment, a type of non-prosecution disposition, acknowledges the facts of the case but refrains from prosecuting after considering factors such as the suspect's motive, means and results of the crime, and circumstances before and after the offense.

Vice Chairman Park's name first appeared during the first trial of plastic surgeon Kim, who was indicted last May on suspicion of habitual administration of propofol to members of chaebol families and others, and nurse Shin.

At that time, former hospital employee A, who appeared as a witness, mentioned the names of influential figures who received propofol, including Vice Chairman Park.

Director Kim was sentenced to three years in prison in January for violating the Narcotics Control Act and other charges, and is currently undergoing an appeal trial in the second instance.

Vice Chairman Park is the eldest son of Park Yong-sung, former Vice Chairman of Doosan Group.
