[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] The National Geographic Information Institute of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 14th that it has established the "2nd National Survey Basic Plan (2021~2025)," which presents the basic direction of national surveying policy for the next five years.
The Ministry of Land plans to invest a total of 1.2 trillion KRW by preparing four major promotion strategies and 12 promotion tasks with the vision of realizing safe and convenient land management through the smartization of surveying.
This plan was prepared to set policy directions to quantitatively and qualitatively innovate surveying data to realize the digital twin land of the Korean New Deal.
According to the plan, it will first respond to the demand for real-time location services required in the public and private sectors.
As high-precision location information becomes increasingly important due to the promotion of national core driving projects such as smart construction and autonomous vehicles, as well as the increased use of smart devices and unmanned devices, the land location reference system will be advanced by utilizing space geodetic technology (VLBI).
In addition, new location correction services based on smartphones and diversified high-precision location information services such as multi-GNSS will be provided so that anyone can use real-time GNSS services anytime and anywhere.
GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) is a general term for systems that measure location using satellites, including satellite navigation systems provided by the United States, Russia, Europe, and China.
Along with this, core foundational data for future surveying industries such as digital twin land, smart construction, and autonomous vehicles will be established. To be utilized as core information for digital twin land and future land management, surveying data will be expanded from existing 2D map-centered data to 3D, and next-generation surveying data such as precision road maps and digital cadasters will be serviced.
Plans also include supporting the activation of the surveying industry ecosystem through improvements in laws and systems according to new surveying technologies and demand changes, as well as establishing cooperative systems with various fields.
Sagong Hosang, Director of the National Geographic Information Institute of the Ministry of Land, said, "With the establishment of the 2nd National Survey Basic Plan, we will actively strive to realize safe and convenient digital land management through high-quality surveying data and serve as a catalyst for the successful realization of the Korean New Deal projects."
