[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The lifelong education project promoted by Dongseo University for adult learners who combine work and study has gained momentum.
Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) Future Career College has been selected for the fourth consecutive year in the 'University Lifelong Education System Support Project (LiFE)' hosted by the Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Lifelong Education.
Since 2019, Dongseo University Future Career College has received 2.5 billion KRW in support over three years, and will continue to promote customized lifelong education for adult learners as a leading lifelong education university in the southeastern region with over 2.1 billion KRW in national funding for two years until 2023.
The Future Career College operates four regular bachelor's degree programs for local adult learners: ICT Convergence Engineering, Social Welfare Counseling, Social Safety, and Senior Exercise Prescription.
From the 2022 academic year, the college newly established the Sports Leisure Industry Department and Practical Content Creation Department, planning to recruit 190 freshmen across six departments.
Applicants who are over 30 years old and have graduated from high school or specialized high school (vocational high school) with more than three years of work experience are selected as freshmen through document screening and interviews without the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT).
To help local adult learners balance work and study, the college is expanding online classes, offering intensive night classes for 2-3 days, and Saturday classes.
Jung Hyun-seok, dean of the Future Career College, said, “With increased average life expectancy and advances in science and technology, various personal and social issues are expected, raising the importance of lifelong education for adult learners. We will help local adult learners effectively prepare for the future by balancing family, work, and study.”
The 2022 academic year early admission for freshmen is scheduled to take place from September 10 to 14.
