Expansion of Green MoaMoa Project in Resource Circulation, Partnership with Clothing Companies... Sharing Cases such as Alley Obstruction Jeonju Maintenance and Benchmarking Imom Taxi in Family Policy
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) is making every effort to select and promote citizen-experience-focused proactive administrative tasks that encourage proactive actions by public officials and resolve inconveniences in the daily lives of residents.
Key projects promoted as priority tasks last year won the Excellence Award in the first half and the Grand Prize in the second half at the '2020 Seoul Metropolitan Government Proactive Administration Best Practices Competition.' Additionally, a total of 1,270 residents participated in the 'Eunpyeong-gu Proactive Administration of the Year' selection event held in December, establishing a citizen-participation type proactive administration.
The 'Resource Recycling Green MoaMoa Project,' which began as a pilot operation in October 2019 (20 hubs), has expanded to all 16 community service centers (150 hubs) as of June 2021. It is expanding the recycling scope by washing discarded ice packs for reuse by small business owners or supplying transparent PET bottles suitable for clothing production to outdoor companies.
Also, a utility pole located in the middle of the road that had obstructed emergency vehicles such as fire trucks for years was relocated to eliminate residents' inconvenience and safety concerns such as fire hazards. A crosswalk floor signal was developed to allow students and citizens to cross safely on their way to and from school, making efforts to prevent pedestrian safety accidents. Proactive administration is being carried out focusing on sites closely related to residents' lives.
In particular, the 'I-Mom Taxi,' launched in August last year with the purpose of protecting residents' health and making Eunpyeong a better place to have children, is the nation's first dedicated taxi system for protecting infants and pregnant women with weak immunity from COVID-19. As of June this year, over 2,500 members have registered, and following its introduction by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, it is spreading to other districts in Seoul and other cities and provinces.
Kim 00, who used the I-Mom Taxi, said, "I didn’t have the courage to drive with a baby less than 100 days old, and I couldn’t always ask my husband. But I could get on right in front of my house and get off at the hospital entrance. I used it four times, and all the drivers were kind and good," sharing her experience.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, "We will diversify efforts to strengthen the proactive administration achievements made by our staff as a core competency of our district and strive to increase residents' happiness index. We will do our best to create an environment for proactive administration by supporting pre-consultations and selecting outstanding public officials so that public officials can promote proactive administration."
