Supporting Plum Farms in Early June... Selling Green and Red Maesil via Live Broadcast with Free Shipping
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 14th that it will support the sales channels of plum farms by partnering with CJ CheilJedang through the Seoul Regional Win-Win Exchange Project Group, utilizing broadcast sales and cooking classes to coincide with the peak plum season in June.
CJ CheilJedang will provide sugar, oligosaccharides, and other gifts to plum buyers, while a support group composed of employees from CJ OliveNetworks will act as ambassadors promoting ways to use plums.
Compared to last year, when plum production decreased due to low temperature and strong wind damage, this year’s crop is expected to increase by more than 10% due to favorable growing conditions. To prevent farmers from experiencing difficulties due to falling plum prices and sales, the Seoul Regional Win-Win Exchange Project Group and CJ CheilJedang have joined forces to plan large-scale online and offline sales support events.
To promote plum consumption, the Seoul Regional Win-Win Exchange Project Group will conduct two live broadcast sales (Naver Shopping Live) at the Seoul Gangseo Agricultural and Marine Products Market, where Hongmaesil plums from Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, a famous plum-producing region, are traded. The first broadcast will be held at 11 a.m. on the 15th, and the second at 11 a.m. on the 23rd, with all shipping fees free of charge.
At the shared kitchen on the basement floor 1 of Jongno Win-Win Store, a special ‘Seoromatnam’ class with CJ CheilJedang will be held three times on the 16th. This citizen experience cooking class, ‘Making Plum Pickles,’ aims to increase the use of plums and stimulate summer appetites. Participants only need to purchase plums, as containers, sugar, and other ingredients will be provided, allowing them to make and take home their own plum pickles.
To support plum farms, CJ CheilJedang and CJ OliveNetworks will assist from promotion to material support. To spread information about various ways to use plums, a support group of 300 CJ OliveNetworks employees will act as promotional ambassadors. Additionally, when purchasing plums, buyers will receive event products and sugar and oligosaccharides necessary for the plum pickle cooking class.
Kim In-sook, Director of the Seoul Regional Win-Win Economy Division, said, “With the start of the peak plum season, we have prepared various sales support measures and programs to promote plum sales and to prepare for any possible plum price crashes. We will continue to pay attention to the supply of seasonal local agricultural products and support for producing farms, becoming a reliable partner for the sale of excellent seasonal foods.”
