[Asia Economy Reporter Eunbyeol Kim] The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) have agreed to strive to donate more than one billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

According to foreign media on the 13th (local time), the final version of the G7 summit joint statement (communiqu?) is expected to include a commitment by member countries to donate one billion vaccine doses by the end of next year, and to work together with the private sector and the Group of Twenty (G20) over the coming months to increase donations.

According to sources, diplomats from each country worked late into the previous night to finalize the wording of the joint statement, and it is currently in the final stages.

Earlier, Japan's Kyodo News, citing diplomatic sources, reported that the G7 leaders would call for peace and security in the Taiwan Strait in the joint statement.
