During the meeting with Chancellor Merkel held in Cornwall, UK, President Moon shared the results of the Korea-US summit, stating, "We are actively striving to resume dialogue with North Korea so that the peace process on the Korean Peninsula can progress again." Chancellor Merkel stated, "Germany will continue possible cooperation and support regardless of the results of this general election."

Spokesperson Park explained, "President Moon held talks with German Chancellor Merkel and discussed a wide range of issues including COVID-19 response, climate change, and the situation in Northeast Asia including the Korean Peninsula." In particular, the COVID-19 response was a focal point of interest.

President Moon said, "It is necessary for Germany, a leading country in vaccine development, and Korea, which has strengths in vaccine production, to explore cooperation methods," adding, "Through this, global vaccine supply can become smoother and more equitable." Chancellor Merkel replied, "I will also consult with German vaccine companies possessing mRNA technology."
