[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Hyundai Department Store is opening the Songdo branch of the No.1 steakhouse in the U.S., 'Texas Roadhouse.' This is the second store following the first domestic store launched last November at Hyundai Premium Outlet SPACE1.


Hyundai Department Store announced on the 13th that it will open the steakhouse 'Texas Roadhouse' Songdo branch on the 3rd-floor food court of Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo on the 14th.


Texas Roadhouse is the No.1 steakhouse in the U.S. by sales. Since opening its first store in Indiana, U.S. in 1993, it now operates over 600 stores across 10 countries including the U.S., Mexico, and Taiwan. The store displays whole cuts of raw meat in a refrigerated 'meat room.' Customers can select the raw meat themselves if they wish, differentiating it from typical steakhouses. The 'Texas Roll,' a complimentary bread served before meals, is freshly made daily on-site with dough prepared and baked in the store.


The Texas Roadhouse Songdo branch spans 482㎡ (approximately 146 pyeong) and offers over 70 menu items including steak, chicken, ribs, burgers, and salads. The main steak menu includes basic cuts such as sirloin, filet, and ribeye, as well as specialty cuts like bone-in ribeye and porterhouse T-bone, which features tenderloin and strip loin on either side of a T-shaped bone.


The exotic interior features a desert vibe with cactus neon signs to evoke the atmosphere of Texas. The store plays country music from the Texas region and hosts events such as line dancing by staff every hour to entertain customers.


Leveraging experience from operating the first store, Texas Roadhouse plans to newly launch four types of non-alcoholic cocktails called 'Mocktails' (Pina Colada, Fruity, Original, Frozen Cooler). This targets family customers who visit the outlet by car, given its suburban location. Additionally, considering Korean tastes, a Korean-style side dish 'Oi Muchim' (spicy cucumber salad) will be introduced for the first time. Oi Muchim is a reinterpretation of cucumber salad with added chili oil and fresh chili peppers in a Korean style.


A Hyundai Department Store official said, "Texas Roadhouse, which debuted domestically at Hyundai Premium Outlet SPACE1, has become famous for its excellent steak taste and exotic atmosphere, and has become a local landmark with customer wait times exceeding an hour on weekends. We expect the Texas Roadhouse opening at Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo to become the representative restaurant of 'Songhyeona (Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlet)."


Meanwhile, the first domestic Texas Roadhouse store, opened last November at Hyundai Premium Outlet SPACE1, has been very popular, exceeding its sales target by more than 50% until last month.
