[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The KOSPI continues its upward trend in the afternoon, driven by net buying from institutions and foreigners.
As of 1:25 PM on the 11th, the KOSPI stood at 3,247.57, up 0.71% (22.93 points) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 3,226.98, up 0.07% (2.34 points) from the previous day, and has maintained its upward momentum into the afternoon.
Looking at investor trends, foreigners switched to net buying in the afternoon. Foreigners and institutions purchased stocks worth 68.6 billion KRW and 148.4 billion KRW respectively, while individuals were the sole net sellers with 258.7 billion KRW sold.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, most are showing gains. Samsung Electronics, which had turned downward in the morning, is holding steady at 81,000 KRW, the same as the previous closing price. SK Hynix (4.07%), NAVER (0.27%), Kakao (0.75%), LG Chem (2.73%), and Hyundai Motor (1.48%) also rose.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index stood at 990.99, up 0.33% (3.23 points) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 989.39, up 0.16% (1.62 points) from the previous day, and has maintained its upward trend. In the KOSDAQ market, individuals were the sole net buyers with 195.2 billion KRW worth of stocks purchased, while foreigners and institutions sold stocks worth 132.2 billion KRW and 62.3 billion KRW respectively.
Most of the top market capitalization stocks are showing gains. Celltrion Healthcare and Celltrion Pharm rose by 0.77% and 0.51% respectively. EcoPro BM (2.44%), Pearl Abyss (0.81%), CJ ENM (0.66%), and SK Materials (1.50%) also increased. On the other hand, Kakao Games (-0.36%) and HL Biopharma (-0.15%) declined.
