[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Ju-hyung] A mother and son who deceived five women by promising loans in exchange for nude photos and pocketed a large sum of money have been arrested by the police.
Jeju Police Agency announced on the 10th that they have urgently arrested and detained a woman, A (44), and her son, B (19), on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (threatening with filmed materials), extortion, and other offenses.
The two are accused of posting a message on Facebook titled "Same-day Women Loan Specialist" and deceiving women seeking loans to collect about 100 million won.
According to the police, the mother and son demanded the victims take and send nude photos, claiming that collateral was needed for a loan of 4 million won.
After the victims sent photos or videos of their private parts, they threatened to distribute them and demanded money. Through this method, the mother and son are believed to have extorted goods worth about 100 million won from five female victims.
Earlier, one of the victims filed a police report on the 23rd of last month, and following the investigation, the police urgently arrested B at a PC bang in another region on the 4th, and his mother A at a motel in another region. Both were detained on the 7th.
The police are tracking one accomplice who committed the crime with them. They also plan to confirm and consolidate the crimes committed in other regions.
