On the 10th, SSG.com announced that it will invite actress Gong Hyo-jin as the first pitch thrower at the game between SSG Landers and Kiwoom Heroes, held at Incheon SSG Landers Field at 5 p.m. on the 12th, and hold a special event giving discount coupons to baseball fans attending the game to commemorate the occasion.


This first pitch event started from the suggestion of SSG Landers’ mascot 'Randy.' In a video uploaded on the 3rd to SSG Landers’ official YouTube channel 'SsukTube,' Randy visits the SSG.com headquarters and requests the marketing team to provide a famous first pitch thrower and discount coupons.


The video, which parodies popular content where a celebrity visits a company unannounced and offers discount benefits for a certain period, has recorded 19,000 views as of the 9th. SSG.com decided to accept Randy’s proposal as a gesture of customer appreciation, changing 'Randy Day' to 'Randy Ssuk Day' and planning joint marketing to enhance the event atmosphere on game day.


Accordingly, to commemorate Gong Hyo-jin’s first pitch on the 12th, all attendees at the stadium will receive a fixed discount coupon worth 10,000 KRW usable on purchases over 20,000 KRW. Additionally, for 'online cheering' fans who cannot visit in person, a 10% coupon offering up to 10,000 KRW discount on payments over 50,000 KRW will be given to all customers on game day.


Earlier, from 9 a.m. on the 7th to 8:59 a.m. on the 10th, the 'Randy Ssuk Day' quiz event attracted 6,000 participants on the first day alone. SSG.com held a draw among 1,019 correct respondents to award big balls, uniforms, baseballs signed by players, and Starbucks drink coupons.


SSG.com’s active baseball marketing is due to the significant impact of SSG Landers’ popularity on SSG.com’s visitor numbers and sales.


From the 22nd of last month to the 8th of this month, while SSG Landers led the league, the number of customers visiting SSG.com increased by about 20% compared to the same period last year. In particular, sales of Landers-related goods such as uniforms and hats surged by 250% compared to the previous month’s same period.


An SSG.com official said, "This first pitch event was planned as a token of appreciation for SSG.com and SSG Landers fans," adding, "We plan to differentiate ourselves with marketing that cannot be imitated by other platforms by planning shopping content linked not only to sports but also to various entertainment elements."
