[Asia Economy Reporter Seolginna Jo] Samsung Electronics is reported to possibly exclude chargers from the basic accessories of its soon-to-be-released new smartwatches, the 'Galaxy Watch4' and 'Galaxy Watch Active4'. The Galaxy Watch4 is expected to be the first model to apply the integrated operating system (OS) developed by Samsung Electronics and Google.
IT specialized media PhoneArena and others reported on the 9th (local time) that the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch Active4 recently passed 3C certification in China. The certified models are ▲SM-R860 (Watch Active4 39mm) ▲SM-R870 (Watch Active4 43mm) ▲SM-R880 (Watch4 41mm) ▲SM-R890 (Watch4 45mm).
All models support the same 5W (5V, 1A) charging as their predecessors. IT specialized media MyFixGuide stated, "Samsung Electronics will use the old wireless charging dock for this series as well," adding, "The 3C certification indicates that the box does not include a charging adapter."
The document released that day included the phrase 'sold without power adapter' after the model name. PhoneArena explained, "3C certification tests device charging, battery specifications, etc.," and noted, "This means the new smartwatches may not include a charging adapter."
Earlier, Samsung Electronics also excluded chargers from the basic accessories to lower the price when launching the flagship smartphone Galaxy S21 earlier this year.
Major foreign media reported that the new smartwatches will feature a more modern design with narrower bezels and a circular AMOLED screen. The Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch Active4 are expected to be unveiled along with new foldable smartphones at the Galaxy Unpacked event in August this year.
