Muan-Gimpo Air Route Opens... 50-Seat Aircraft Service Begins


[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Jeonnam Muan-gun announced on the 9th that Hi Global Group's small airline 'Hi Air' will hold a launch ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on the 24th and begin operating the Muan?Gimpo route.


This marks the resumption of the Muan?Gimpo route after 8 years since 2013, and the launch ceremony will be attended by related officials including Kim San, the governor of Muan-gun, and Yoon Hyung-kwan, CEO of Hi Global Group, to commemorate the event.


The Muan?Gimpo route will operate six times a week (Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday (2 times), Sunday) from the 24th until December 31. During this period, the flight schedule departs from Muan at 9:00 a.m. (Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday) and at 4:50 p.m. on Sundays, while departures from Gimpo are at 7:30 a.m. (Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday) and 3:20 p.m. on Sundays.


The Hi Air aircraft is a French-made ATR72-500 model, modified from the original 74 seats to 50 seats, securing a premium economy class seat pitch of approximately 97 cm for a comfortable travel experience. Additionally, safety verification has been completed, and the airline has received an operating certificate from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.


Governor Kim San stated, “The launch of the Muan?Gimpo route is expected to increase air travel convenience for residents in the southwestern region,” adding, “We plan to further consider expanding routes to Jeju in the future, so we ask for your active use to help promptly normalize Muan International Airport.”
