[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seon-hee] Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum stated on the 9th, "We plan to allow group travel as early as July for those who have completed vaccination, following consultations with countries where the quarantine situation is stable."
On the morning of the same day, Prime Minister Kim chaired the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters meeting at the Government Complex Sejong and said, "If you have completed vaccination and test negative in diagnostic tests upon entry and exit, you will be able to travel without separate quarantine," adding, "Overseas travel will be a signal for the restoration of daily life that many citizens are looking forward to."
The government discussed the promotion plan for the travel safety zone 'Travel Bubble' at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters meeting. Prime Minister Kim urged the related ministries, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, "Please promptly conclude consultations between countries and cooperate with quarantine authorities to prepare meticulously in advance to prevent any gaps in quarantine."
Along with this, the government plans to finalize the social distancing adjustment plan, which will be applied from next week, on the 11th. It is expected that the current social distancing measures will likely be extended further. Regarding this, Prime Minister Kim said, "We need to stabilize the quarantine situation over the next three weeks so that the first half of the year’s vaccination and the July social distancing reform can proceed smoothly."
Regarding the status of COVID-19 vaccination, he said, "It is progressing as planned," and added, "We are striving to complete the first dose for 13 million citizens as soon as possible." Prime Minister Kim said, "Summer vacations will be safer, and the long-awaited restoration of daily life will accelerate," and expressed, "I would like to once again thank and encourage the citizens actively participating in vaccination, as well as the medical staff, public officials, and volunteers dedicating themselves on the front lines."
