'Korea: Three-Dimensional Imagination' First Revealed at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France
"Comforting the World with Immersive Content Imagination..."
A BTS concert and the movie 'Parasite' experience realized through virtual reality (VR) will be unveiled for the first time at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France.
The Korea Creative Content Agency announced on the 9th that from the 7th to the 16th of next month, it will hold the exhibition "Korea: Cubically Imagined," showcasing convergence and immersive content using representative Hallyu content. This event is an opportunity to envision a new future reshaped after the end of COVID-19 through the imagination of domestic content industry professionals. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the UNESCO Secretariat’s Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions jointly host the event.
The BTS concert is an extended reality (XR) content. The 'BTS MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E' performance is recreated in a three-sided LED cube space. Visitors can enjoy a 360-degree immersive video experience by wearing VR gear. The 'Parasite' experience is a VR content that gives the feeling of entering key settings from the movie. The living room and basement of the mansion, as well as the semi-basement house, unfold with music that maximizes immersion.
Additionally, the exhibition will feature the National Museum of Korea’s 'The King's Procession, Together with the People,' District’s 'Flowe,' 'Wave,' and 'Beach,' VIVE Studios’ 'The Brave New World,' Tacit Group’s 'Morse ㅋung ㅋung,' Korea National University of Arts’ 'Heosooabi,' and Kang I-yeon’s 'Beyond the Scene,' decorating the exhibition hall.
Ernesto Ottone, Assistant Director-General for Culture at UNESCO, said, "We will demonstrate how important culture and creativity are for sustainable development in the pandemic era," adding, "It will be an opportunity for global audiences to connect as one and to jointly celebrate the Year of Creative Economy." Jung Kyung-mi, Acting President of the Korea Creative Content Agency, stated, "The imaginative immersive content realized through domestic films, music, and contemporary art will provide great comfort to people worldwide beyond regional and language boundaries." She also mentioned, "From the 16th of next month, after the exhibition ends, it will be accessible online from anywhere in the world."
