Opening of Korea's Largest Electric Vehicle Exhibition 'xEV Trend Korea 2021'


[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] 'xEV TREND KOREA 2021,' the largest electric vehicle (EV) exhibition in Korea, was held on the 9th at COEX in Seoul.


Now in its fourth year, xEV TREND KOREA 2021 is Korea's representative electric vehicle exhibition, sponsored by the Ministry of Environment and Seoul Metropolitan Government, and jointly organized by COEX and the Korea Battery Industry Association.


This event features a total of 50 companies, including global automakers Hyundai Motor Company and Kia, as well as Korea's leading EV mobility, charger, and battery companies, operating with a total of 450 booths.


From Hyundai's 'IONIQ 5' and Kia's three models of 'EV6' (EV6 Standard, EV6 GT-Line, EV6 GT) to new electric passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and two-wheelers leading Korea's electric vehicle era from companies such as DNA Motors Co., Ltd., AIMS Co., Ltd., and MBI Co., Ltd., a variety of new EVs and E-mobility products are unveiled.


Additionally, top domestic electric vehicle charger and battery companies with advanced technology, including Moduntech, Costel, and Daeyoung Chaebi, are also participating.


Through the concurrently held world's largest battery exhibition, 'InterBattery 2021,' visitors can also explore trends and visions in the battery industry, including next-generation batteries, capacitors, battery materials and components, equipment, and applications.


Alongside this, for the benefit of eco-friendly vehicle stakeholders, global partnership seminars and online talk seminars themed on eco-friendly vehicles are conducted.


For general visitors' informative and enjoyable experience, events such as the xEV Junior Engineering Class, Auto Design Award exhibition, a photo exhibition by automotive professional photographer Seongpil Min, xEV test drives, and an on-site stamp tour event using the xEV special pavilion are also held.


Lee Dongwon, President of COEX, said, “We have prepared this year's xEV TREND KOREA event with various programs so that domestic consumers can take more interest in and participate in the eco-friendly vehicle culture. Although the situation is cautious due to COVID-19, we have prioritized the safety of all participating companies and visitors under secure quarantine measures.”
