Pastly "Investigating Service Disruption" Mentioned
Hacking Status Not Confirmed
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] Numerous media outlets and social media and e-commerce platforms, including The New York Times, CNN, Amazon, Reddit, Twitch, Target, and the Financial Times, experienced outages preventing access to their homepages. It has been reported that those using the U.S. content delivery network (CDN) provider Fastly were affected.
U.S. media such as the Associated Press reported on the 8th (local time) that the homepage access issues at major news organizations that occurred that morning were due to a service disruption at Fastly.
Fastly also stated, "We are investigating this matter," acknowledging that their service was not operating normally, but did not disclose the reason for the service outage.
CDN services are a type of cloud service that reduces bottlenecks and homepage access times when delivering large amounts of content.
Meanwhile, access to the homepages of CNN and Reddit was later restored. The New York Times homepage was also restored, but it is taking a considerable amount of time to load.
