[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] T Robotics, a specialized manufacturer of semiconductor and display vacuum robots, announced on the 8th that it will acquire Motion Device Co., Ltd. to strengthen its AMR and AGV logistics transfer robot business.
Seungwook Ahn, CEO of T Robotics, stated, "Recently, the logistics transfer market has been gaining attention due to COVID-19. Logistics robots are robotic systems aimed at improving logistics efficiency through the convergence of AI technologies such as environment and situation recognition, scheduling, and learning based on robotics technologies including IoT and autonomous driving. They are mainly used in packaging, sorting, stacking, and transfer processes of goods, and are applied in logistics centers, factory logistics, hospitals, hotels, and ports."
He added, "Global logistics companies, including Amazon, are already actively adopting or planning to adopt logistics robots, viewing this market as a future growth area. Motion Device's AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) and AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) logistics robots are expected to create synergy with T Robotics' autonomous transfer robots," explaining the reason for the acquisition.
Meanwhile, Motion Device's AGV logistics robots are already collaborating with domestic companies to integrate with smart factories, and it is expected that T Robotics' robots will soon be encountered in the logistics market.
