Realmeter, Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung Ranks First for Two Consecutive Months in Metropolitan Local Government Evaluation
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] A public opinion poll showed that Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, ranked first in the evaluation of metropolitan governors. Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, and Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul, who were elected in the April 7 by-elections, ranked third and fourth, respectively.
According to the "Metropolitan Governor Evaluation Survey Results" announced by Realmeter, a public opinion research firm, based on a survey conducted from April 23 to 30 and May 24 to 31 targeting 8,500 people nationwide aged 18 and over, the positive evaluation rate for Governor Lee rose by 0.4 percentage points from 62.5% last month to 62.9%. He was the only metropolitan governor to record a support rate in the 60% range, maintaining first place for two consecutive months.
Following him, Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, ranked second with a support rate of 57.0%, while Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan (51.0%), and Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul (50.9%), ranked third and fourth, respectively.
Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do (50.2%), and Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City (49.1%), ranked fifth and sixth, respectively.
Yang Seung-jo, Governor of Chungcheongnam-do, who declared his candidacy for the presidential election, ranked seventh with 48.7%, and Won Hee-ryong, Governor of Jeju Province and a presidential candidate from the opposition, ranked eighth with a support rate of 46.2%.
The average positive evaluation rate for all metropolitan governors nationwide in this survey was 45.5%.
The sampling error of this survey is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and the response rate is 5.2%.
