[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] LG CNS is launching foreign language conversation education using artificial intelligence (AI).
LG CNS announced on the 8th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education for "AI-based foreign language conversation education service cooperation." Through this MOU, about 800,000 students from approximately 1,300 elementary, middle, and high schools in Seoul can study English with AI without restrictions on school or home locations.
LG CNS and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will jointly promote foreign language conversation learning services through AI tutors, customized education using the AI English learning service production platform "SpeakingClass," the English speaking contest "Kids Malhaton," and the development and support project for Korean conversation learning.
LG CNS will provide the "AI Tutor" and "SpeakingClass" services free of charge to the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. The AI Tutor is an app that allows users to study English conversation with AI trained on hundreds of thousands of English sentences. SpeakingClass is a production platform that uses AI conversation algorithms and voice recognition technology to create customized AI English learning services.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will distribute AI Tutor and SpeakingClass to about 1,300 schools in Seoul and implement AI customized education through these services. They will be used in regular and after-school classes. Teachers can directly develop customized AI English conversation content for students using SpeakingClass. When a teacher inputs only English dialogues into the SpeakingClass app, the AI automatically generates applied exercises necessary for conversation learning, such as sentence speaking, fill-in-the-blank, and segmented speaking. This reduces the time and cost required for creating exercises.
Students can study English anytime and anywhere with the customized AI learning services created by teachers using SpeakingClass and the AI Tutor. If a student hesitates or gives a wrong answer, the AI analyzes weaknesses, provides hints, and encourages continuous conversation. The AI provides real-time learning progress and results.
LG CNS and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the English speaking contest "Kids Malhaton" for Seoul students. Learning content embedded in the AI Tutor will be used as contest questions. The first event will be held in July with 200 students from Guam Middle School in Seoul. LG CNS will also collaborate with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education to develop a "Korean AI Tutor" for students from multicultural families.
Kim Youngseop, CEO of LG CNS, said, "This will be an opportunity for AI to be officially introduced into public education," adding, "We will contribute to laying the social foundation in this century-long plan."
