[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Eom Ju-seop, CEO of Danhae, who has focused on automation systems for production facilities, was honored with the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit in recognition of his contributions to the national economic development. CEO Eom adopted the management philosophy of 'localization of parts' and succeeded in localizing pneumatic devices, which are core components of factory automation. Through this, he achieved an import substitution effect exceeding 1 trillion KRW and direct export performance of over 200 billion KRW.
Recognized for his contributions to the development of the automotive parts industry and the national economy, CEO Eom received the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit at the '2021 Korea Small and Medium Businessman Awards' held at the Korea Federation of SMEs on the 7th.
Park Jun-heum, CEO of HanHwang Industry, who also received the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit alongside CEO Eom, is a living witness of the foundry industry, a representative foundational industry supporting our economy. Having inherited the family business since 1981, CEO Park has been recognized for contributing to the development of the domestic foundry industry by continuously researching and investing to develop new methods and obtaining technology certifications. Kim Jong-hyun, CEO of Wise I-Tech, who received the Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit, is a venture entrepreneur in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data.
Now in its 32nd year, the Small and Medium Businessman Awards is the largest event in the SME sector that rewards and encourages small and medium business owners who have contributed to national economic development and job creation. A total of 92 government awards were presented, including 15 Industrial Service Merit Orders such as the Gold Tower, 12 Industrial Service Medals, 32 Presidential Citations, and 33 Prime Minister Citations, to exemplary small and medium business owners, model workers, contributors to development, and excellent organizations. Additionally, 296 ministerial and vice-ministerial level citations were also awarded.
