[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) has hired 35 Resource Management Assistants to respond to the recycling waste crisis caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and to improve the quality of recyclables, operating them for six months starting from the 14th.

The 'Resource Management Assistants' is a support project aimed at improving the quality of recyclables by employing personnel to re-separate and sort recycling waste discharged from multi-family and single-family housing, thereby enhancing the quality of recyclables and guiding residents on proper separation and disposal methods.

Recently, due to the spread of non-face-to-face consumption culture caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, recycling waste has surged, but proper separation and sorting have not been well implemented.

Accordingly, the district has hired 35 Resource Management Assistants to be deployed at collection points in multi-family and single-family housing to take the lead in managing high-quality recyclables by supporting the removal of labels from transparent PET bottles, tape from paper boxes, and foreign substances from plastics.

In particular, they will focus on guidance and promotion for the establishment of the 'Transparent PET Bottle and Waste Vinyl Separation and Disposal System.' The system has been fully implemented in multi-family housing since December 25 last year and will be fully implemented in single-family housing from December 25 this year.

Additionally, single-family housing will be required to follow a 'day-of-the-week system' where only transparent PET bottles and vinyl are disposed of and collected on designated days each week.

Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, "Through the operation of the Resource Management Assistants, we expect to contribute to improving the quality of recyclables and the successful establishment of the Transparent PET Bottle and Waste Vinyl Separation and Disposal System," and added, "We ask residents to show active interest and cooperation in recycling separation and disposal together with the Resource Management Assistants."
