Today 857,000 Vaccinations 'Highest in a Day'... Cumulative Vaccine Doses Surpass 10 Million On the 7th, the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine began for the general elderly population aged 60 to 64 living in the community and military personnel under 30 years old. [Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccinations in South Korea surpassed 10 million as of 6 p.m. on the 7th.


According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, as of 6 p.m. on this day, the cumulative number of first and second doses administered reached 8,438,197 and 2,299,892 respectively, totaling 10,738,089 doses. Until the previous day (the 6th), the cumulative number of vaccinations was 9,880,620, but with an increase of 837,702 first doses and 19,767 second doses on this day, the total exceeded 10 million.


Notably, the 857,000 doses administered in one day is also a record high. This figure is more than 140,000 higher than the 716,000 doses administered on the 27th of last month, breaking the previous record for the most vaccinations in a single day. As a result, the number of people who received the first dose surpassed 8 million, with a vaccination rate of 16.4% relative to the population.


Meanwhile, from this day, AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine inoculations began for those aged 60 to 64. The Promotion Team reiterated precautions, stating, "To monitor and manage any adverse reactions after vaccination, all vaccinated individuals should remain at the vaccination site for 15 to 30 minutes after receiving the vaccine to observe for any side effects, and should carefully monitor themselves for more than 3 hours after returning home."
