[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The friend A of university student Son Jeong-min (22), who was found dead in the Han River, has filed a complaint against a YouTuber with the police.

The law firm One & Partners, representing A, filed a complaint on the 7th with the Seoul Seocho Police Station against the operator of the YouTube channel 'Jongi's TV' for violations of the Information and Communications Network Act, the Telecommunications Business Act, and defamation. The operator of Jongi's TV is part of the management team of 'People Seeking the Truth at Banpo Hangang Park (Banjinsa)' and has raised various suspicions related to this case.

Lawyers Lee Eun-soo and Kim Gyu-ri of One & Partners stated, "The personal information exposure and defamation damage against A are severe. Considering the degree and impact of the false information, we decided the order of complaints and filed against 'Jongi's TV' first."

They added, "We fully trust the investigative authorities, but as the investigation is delayed, we believe it is necessary to prevent the case from escalating into a conflict between the bereaved family of Son and A. We expect the police to announce the results in a timely manner."

One & Partners plans to additionally file complaints against other YouTubers and netizens who have defamed A or spread false information online, besides the operator of Jongi's TV who was complained about on this day.

Meanwhile, after A's side announced on the 4th that they would respond with a zero-tolerance policy, the law firm has reportedly received about 630 emails requesting leniency by this day. One & Partners also explained that there have been about 50 leniency requests through KakaoTalk or phone calls.
