[Jindo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] On the 7th, the Jeollanam-do Province, Jindo County, and traffic safety-related organizations jointly held the ‘Thank You’ Traffic Safety Campaign in Jindo County, pledging to create a safe Jeonnam free from traffic accidents.

According to Jindo County, about 100 people including Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, Kim Jae-gyu, Chief of Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency, Lee Dong-jin, Mayor of Jindo County, and Park Geum-rye, Chairperson of Jindo County Council, participated in the ‘Thank You’ Traffic Safety Campaign held at the Jindo Premium Hall parking lot, urging “all Jeonnam residents to join in practicing traffic safety.”

The campaign, held with the participation of members from civilian organizations such as the Green Mothers’ Association, Model Drivers’ Association, Safety Monitor Volunteer Group, and Autonomous Crime Prevention and Volunteer Fire Brigade, proceeded with safety pledge chants, traffic safety oaths, and distribution of traffic safety promotional materials.

Participants in the campaign marched through the streets and distributed masks and other items while holding placards with messages such as “Stop Illegal Parking Now” and “Stop Immediately When You See Pedestrians” around the 5-day market area in Jogum-ri, Jindo-eup, to promote pedestrian safety.

The event was held to widely raise awareness of the importance of traffic safety through the ‘Thank You’ Traffic Safety Relay Campaign and to foster a social atmosphere where Jeonnam residents can actively participate in the safety culture movement.

Governor Kim Young-rok urged, “I ask all Jeonnam residents to participate in safe walking by stopping first, looking around, and crossing, and in safe driving by reducing speed, showing consideration, and yielding.”

Meanwhile, the ‘Thank You’ Traffic Safety Campaign is being held at terminals, traditional markets, and other locations in 22 cities and counties across the province, with participation from public institutions related to traffic safety such as Jeollanam-do Province and Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency, as well as civilian organizations.
