Hwasun-gun Operates 'Weight Management Program' for Children

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 7th that it will operate a 'Weight Management Program' for children who are underweight or obese.

The underweight management program targets a total of 50 children, including those who are currently underweight or within the lowest 30% close to underweight among those with normal weight.

Customized nutritional supplements containing amino acids and zinc necessary for weight gain, as well as vitamin D, which is essential due to increased indoor activities caused by COVID-19, will be provided.

A professional child integrated case manager will visit homes to educate on underweight management methods tailored to each child's characteristics.

The obesity management program targets 31 overweight children and 26 obese children, and provides them with an InBody scale that can measure 18 body composition metrics.

Overweight children have the goal of reaching normal weight, and obese children have the goal of reaching overweight status, with the mission of "one step down." Those who succeed will be rewarded with a home training set.

A county official said, "We will continue to develop customized programs for children and families to actively help children grow into healthy and happy members of society."
