[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] CJ Logistics announced on the 7th that it will conduct an artificial intelligence (AI) and big data expert training program for its employees. It is considered unusual for a logistics company, rather than an information technology (IT) company, to conduct large-scale AI and big data-related education for hundreds of people.
About 200 participants, including those in IT and data-related roles as well as practitioners from contract logistics (CL), parcel delivery, and e-commerce, are participating in this training program, which runs for about a month from the 12th of last month to mid-this month.
The training course consists of three detailed programs: a basic platform course, a basic data analysis course, and an advanced data analysis course. Participants will learn the basic concepts and understanding of big data analysis platforms, machine learning, and practical exercises in data exploration and analysis necessary for their work.
In particular, practical training will be provided on how to utilize AI and big data in the field, including cases of AI and big data utilization by leading domestic and international companies, the logistics industry, and CJ Group affiliates.
CJ Logistics recently completed the establishment of AI and big data platforms for data collection and analysis to support digital transformation, and having laid the software foundation, plans to accelerate digital transformation from the practical level by training experts to utilize these platforms. To this end, AI and big data education will be regularized, and in addition to the basic courses, advanced courses will be expanded to enhance employees' professional capabilities.
The reason CJ Logistics is actively adopting advanced technologies such as AI and big data and pursuing digital transformation is that these are essential elements for innovation in the logistics industry and securing a super-gap capability. The logistics industry inherently generates massive amounts of data due to handling large-scale cargo and performing tasks through various transportation means and processes. The need for AI and big data technologies and experts to efficiently manage and utilize this data is increasing.
Ryu Sangcheon, Executive Director of CJ Logistics’ Information Strategy Team, said, "We are accelerating digital transformation across all business divisions and will strive to secure super-gap capabilities through this."
