[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Jaguar Land Rover Korea announced on the 7th that it will launch the 2021 model of the premium sport utility vehicle (SUV) Discovery Sport.
Jaguar Land Rover Korea newly applied the next-generation Ingenium diesel engine with mild hybrid technology to the 2021 Discovery Sport model and added a new entry trim equipped with a gasoline engine. In addition, Jaguar Land Rover's advanced infotainment system PIVI Pro and state-of-the-art convenience features that support confident driving are equipped as standard.
The newly installed next-generation Ingenium 2.0ℓ inline 4 turbo diesel engine from Jaguar Land Rover is equipped with a 48V mild hybrid (MHEV) system. The BiSG (Belt Integrated Starter Generator) and 48V lithium-ion battery installed in the vehicle store energy during driving and assist engine operation.
Jaguar Land Rover Korea explained that the new Ingenium diesel engine offers improved fuel efficiency, increased power output, and more refined driving performance through lightweight design, a more sophisticated combustion system, boost system, and low-friction technology. Additionally, it is specially designed with an aluminum alloy engine block to maintain high rigidity, minimize engine deformation, and reduce vibration and noise.
The Ingenium 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo gasoline engine installed in the Discovery Sport P250 S and P250 SE delivers dynamic performance with 249 horsepower, a maximum torque of 37.2 kg·m, and acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.
The Discovery Sport is equipped with the next-generation infotainment system PIVI Pro, which offers a new level of connectivity, functionality, and convenience. The main functions are organized more simply, and a self-learning feature helps the driver focus on driving.
Moreover, the 2021 Discovery Sport comes standard across all trims with advanced features that support safe and comfortable driving, such as a 3D surround camera that assists with convenient parking, Wade Sensing for detecting water depth, and ClearSight Ground View, which provides a 180-degree front view as if looking through the hood.
Additionally, the Discovery Sport P250 SE model is equipped with an interior air purification system featuring an ionizer function and a PM 2.5 filter, which monitors and purifies the air quality inside the vehicle in real time through sensors.
Robin Colgan, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover Korea, said, "You will be able to experience the versatility of the Discovery Sport, which combines Land Rover's more advanced cutting-edge features, driving performance, and product competitiveness."
The domestic sales prices for the 2021 Discovery Sport (with a 3.5% individual consumption tax applied) are 62.2 million KRW for the P250 S, 65.9 million KRW for the D200 S, and 71 million KRW for the P250 SE, with a 5-year service plan package provided for all models.
