One New COVID-19 Case in Hwasun... Jeonnam Patient No. 1518

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] One new COVID-19 case was confirmed overnight in Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do.

According to the county on the 7th, the confirmed case classified as Jeonnam 1518 (Hwasun 85) is a family member of Jeonnam 1496 (Hwasun 77) and had been under self-quarantine since the 4th.

Jeonnam 1518 showed suspicious symptoms such as muscle pain, sore throat, and headache the day before, underwent diagnostic testing at a screening clinic, and was confirmed positive during self-quarantine, so there is no local movement history.

The county plans to isolate and hospitalize the confirmed patient at Gangjin Medical Center.

Prior to this, on the 4th, Jeonnam 1496 and three family members (Jeonnam 1502-1504) were confirmed positive.

On the 5th, the county placed 195 people under self-quarantine, including Jeonnam 1510 (Hwasun 83) and 1512 (Hwasun 84), students of high school A located in the county, and 158 related students.

For those under self-quarantine, diagnostic testing will be conducted every three days regardless of symptom presence as a preemptive response and to strengthen monitoring.

This measure considers the recent increase in confirmed cases during self-quarantine and asymptomatic cases.

Among 1,111 people tested in the emergency mass screening conducted on the 5th, including 514 students, staff, and parents of high school A, 183 students and staff of middle school B, and family members of Jeonnam 1510’s class, all but one (Jeonnam 1512) tested negative.

A county official said, “Nine confirmed cases have occurred in the region over the past three days, raising concerns about further transmission. Please refrain from visiting other regions and private gatherings as much as possible, and strictly follow quarantine rules such as wearing masks in daily life spaces.”
