[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Lee Jun-seok, former Supreme Council member of the Future United Party and a candidate for the People Power Party leadership election, strongly opposed on the 7th, saying, "This is not an election to choose Yoon Seok-yeol as the election committee chairman," and added, "If I say one word, the senior members create ten conspiracy theories from it, and with that method, we cannot win the presidential election."

On the same day, Lee appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and responded to allegations raised by former lawmaker Na Kyung-won that Lee was trying to exclude former Prosecutor General Yoon from the People Power Party's presidential candidate pool. Lee said, "It seems like they keep trying to bring Yoon Seok-yeol's three-syllable name to the center of the party convention process," and added, "Anyone can see that Representative Na (former lawmaker Na) mentioned many people's names. Anyone can see that Representative Na dislikes Yoo Seung-min and Lee Jun-seok. Ahn Cheol-soo, the People’s Party leader, wants to pull the party, and they want to pull former Prosecutor General Yoon, but how is this fair?" He rather rebutted.

He continued, "Anyone can see that by aggressively attacking as the Yoo Seung-min faction, they tried to conduct the election riding on the negative hard-conservative public opinion against Representative Yoo Seung-min," and said, "I think that will not succeed, but how can you unify by lumping one person together and using others?"

Lee also believed that former lawmaker Na was not communicating with former Prosecutor General Yoon. He said, "Rather, former Prosecutor General Yoon’s side is not saying anything, and (former lawmaker Na) is taking advantage of that to say this and that."

When asked again whether he had already reached a consensus with former Emergency Committee Chairman Kim Jong-in to exclude former Prosecutor General Yoon from the presidential candidate pool, he said, "I am ashamed to run the election," and added, "I will apologize to the people today." He continued, "I really cannot respond to delusions, but I don’t know what I should really answer," and said, "If he believes that way, what can I do?"

Meanwhile, Lee requested an investigation from the party’s election management committee regarding the distribution of defamatory text messages. He said, "The candidate originally receives the party member list. Once received, the candidate can only send texts to the numbers reported to the election management committee," and added, "(However) it was found that the list was leaked from another candidate’s side, and an individual in a conservative group sent texts to over 300,000 party members. Regardless of the content, I want to raise the issue of whether a specific camp can hand over the personal information of 300,000 party members to a conservative group." It was reported that the text messages included content defaming Lee Jun-seok.
