5th Disaster Relief Fund, 'Universal Payment to All Citizens' 38.0% vs 'Selective Payment to Vulnerable Groups' 33.4% vs 'Opposed to Payment' 25.3%

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Regarding the payment of the 5th disaster relief fund, opinions are sharply divided between the claim for 'universal payment to all citizens' and the support for 'selective payment to vulnerable groups.'

According to a public opinion survey conducted by Realmeter on behalf of YTN on the 4th, targeting 500 men and women nationwide aged 18 and older, 38.0% responded that the disaster relief fund should be universally paid to all citizens, while 33.4% said it should be selectively paid to vulnerable groups. Those opposing the payment of the disaster relief fund accounted for 25.3%, and 3.3% said they were unsure.


By political party support, about half (52.7%) of the supporters of the Democratic Party of Korea agreed with the claim for 'universal payment to all citizens,' whereas among the supporters of the People Power Party, 41.6% showed agreement with the opposition to the disaster relief fund payment, a rate higher than the overall average.
