LG HelloVision Expands Investment in Local Channel Content
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The local channel original entertainment program ‘BOOK U LOVE with Carrier’ will premiere on the 7th at 5 PM on local channel 25 and The Life Channel.
This program, co-produced by LG HelloVision, LG Uplus, and The Life Channel, is the first major content launched after LG HelloVision declared an expansion of investment in local channel content.
The broadcast concept is a book talk show, with entertainers Song Eun-yi, Kim Sook, Yoo Se-yoon, and writer Kim Jung-hyuk as MCs. The four visit celebrities’ studies to hear stories behind their life books and collect these books in a book carrier to deliver them to 12 local libraries.
This program aims to be a ‘good entertainment’ that spreads positive influence in local communities. Large book carriers have been installed in each region to allow local residents to freely donate books that have been dormant on their shelves. Books donated by celebrities and locals will fill the ‘Celebrity Book Section’ in local libraries, promoting reading culture and revitalizing book donations in the community.
The first episode visits the study of singer Yang Hee-eun, a representative avid reader in the entertainment industry. Among the bookshelves containing traces of 51 years in the entertainment world, viewers meet life books that have accompanied Yang Hee-eun through joy and sorrow. Yang Hee-eun showed generosity by donating over 400 books, including her life books. The books donated by Yang Hee-eun and local residents will be used to fill the BOOK U LOVE corner at the Seosan Citizen Center Library in Chungnam.
The second episode’s guest is Kim Yoon-ah of the representative Korean band Jaurim. Guests such as Noh Sa-yeon, Ji Sang-ryeol, and Jang Ki-ha are scheduled to appear consecutively.
This program is also expected to contribute to revitalizing the local economy. As the book carriers are delivered to libraries nationwide, local attractions and specialties will be highlighted to raise interest in the regions. Additionally, local libraries are expected to transform into hot spots, attracting significant attention from residents.
To establish a reading culture, joint marketing is being conducted with Kyobo Book Centre. The life books introduced by celebrities in the program can be found in the ‘BOOK U LOVE Recommended Books’ section at Kyobo Book Centre’s online and offline stores.
The broadcast can be viewed every Monday at 5 PM on LG HelloVision local channel 25, The Life Channel (‘Hello TV’ channel 38, ‘U+ TV’ channel 39, ‘B TV’ channel 67), and is also available on U+ Mobile TV.
Park Hyun-woo, head of LG HelloVision Content Production Center, said, “‘BOOK U LOVE with Carrier,’ combining local communities and entertainment, will serve as a model for ‘localtainment’ that LG HelloVision local channels advocate. As the influence of media sellers grows, we will deliver positive energy to local communities through good content linking reading and donation.”
