Special Performances Throughout June... "Providing a Stage for Artists and Cultural Enjoyment Opportunities for Residents"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Seongsoo Park) announced that the audience participation-type performance venue ‘Seokchon Lake Atelier’ will open on June 9th at the west lake of Seokchon Lake.
The district is making the area around Seokchon Lake a cultural and artistic hub of Songpa-gu by creating various cultural spaces. As part of this effort, a cafe that was operated under private consignment along the west lakeside of Seokchon Lake has been transformed into a performance venue called ‘Seokchon Lake Atelier’.
Since November 2019, it was temporarily opened as a ‘public cultural space’ with the intention of returning it to residents as a cultural space, conducting programs such as exhibitions, culture, and education to understand the cultural demands of residents, and it has been renovated into an audience participation-type performance venue.
‘Seokchon Lake Atelier’ is located along the west lakeside of Seokchon Lake, with a total floor area of 452.83㎡ and a single-story building, featuring ▲a small-scale performance hall, ▲a cafe, and ▲a rooftop garden.
Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
Local cultural artists will take the lead in mainly presenting performances that contain Songpa’s unique content and stories.
In particular, throughout June at 7 p.m., visitors can enjoy special opening performances by Songpa-gu artists such as ▲Depas’s ‘Musical Gala Show’ and ▲Songpa Gugak Association’s ‘Gugak Concerto’.
Afterwards, through various performances, exhibitions, and educational programs such as ▲World Music Travel and ▲Open Theater, audiences will have opportunities to enjoy culture and arts vividly.
Additionally, as a small-scale performance venue where Songpa-gu artists and young artists can perform, it is expected to play a significant role in creating ‘Songpa, a good place for art.’
In this regard, the district plans to develop Seokchon Lake into a famous spot where natural rest and cultural spaces harmonize by creating cultural facilities such as ‘Cultural Experiment Space Lake,’ ‘Seokchon Lake Atelier,’ and ‘Seokchon Lake Art Gallery’ to provide residents visiting Seokchon Lake with spaces to experience and communicate culture and arts in daily life.
Seongsoo Park, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “With the opening of ‘Seokchon Lake Atelier’ and the completion of ‘Seokchon Lake Art Gallery,’ Seokchon Lake will be reborn as the cultural hub of Songpa-gu,” adding, “We will strive to create a lifestyle-oriented cultural space where residents can experience and enjoy culture in their daily lives, making the residents’ everyday life art, and art their everyday life.”
