Prime Minister Kim Hosts Dinner for US Senate Delegation... Urges Support for Korean Companies

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum held a dinner on the 5th at the Prime Minister's official residence in Jongno-gu, Seoul, with a delegation of U.S. senators visiting Korea, urging support for the business activities of Korean companies in the United States.

During the meeting with the delegation of three U.S. senators?Chris Coons (Democrat, Delaware), Dan Sullivan (Republican, Alaska), and Tammy Duckworth (Democrat, Illinois)?Prime Minister Kim referred to the recent Korea-U.S. summit where both countries agreed to expand economic cooperation, and requested the support of the U.S. Congress for the development of a comprehensive and mutually beneficial Korea-U.S. relationship.

He also emphasized the need to ensure the safety and protection of Koreans in the U.S., who serve as a bridge in bilateral relations, in light of recent anti-Asian hate crimes occurring in the United States.

The U.S. Senate delegation attending the dinner stated, "Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Korea is the first foreign country visited by a bipartisan delegation from the U.S. Senate," and added, "Through this visit, we were able to directly confirm the strong Korea-U.S. alliance and the achievements of the Korea-U.S. summit." They also expressed hope that "the U.S. vaccines that arrived today will be helpful to the Korean people."

Immediately after the dinner, Prime Minister Kim posted on his social media (SNS), "The recent Korea-U.S. summit has become an opportunity for bilateral relations to take a leap forward in all aspects?not only the Korea-U.S. alliance and security but also COVID-19 response, vaccine supply chain cooperation, and climate change collaboration?since the inauguration of the Biden administration." He added, "Now that key figures from the U.S. Senate have visited the Korean government and legislature to further solidify trust, I feel truly reassured."
