"Once entering the political arena, even harsher scrutiny will be faced"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Ju-hee] Lee Jae-oh, Standing Advisor of the People Power Party, recently criticized the ruling party's offensive against former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol regarding allegations related to his family, saying, "If you say that level of attack is 'crossing the line,' then you shouldn't be in politics."
On the 4th, in an interview with YTN Radio's 'Hwang Bo-seon's Start of a New Morning,' Lee made this remark while evaluating former Prosecutor General Yoon, who is mentioned as a leading opposition presidential candidate.
Earlier, when Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, demanded a thorough investigation into allegations concerning Yoon's family on the 2nd, Yoon responded through his lawyer, stating, "Some politicians' excessive remarks and actions continue," and took countermeasures.
Regarding this, Lee pointed out, "Former Prosecutor General Yoon says it's 'crossing the line,' but once you enter politics, you will face even harsher scrutiny."
However, Lee also criticized the Democratic Party, saying, "This is all about the story of the mother-in-law before (Yoon) got married. Making a fuss over the mother-in-law's story is the ruling party trying to engage in petty politics. It's a shabby tactic often used by the ruling party, and it's not desirable."
Regarding Song's apology for the 'Cho Kuk incident' involving former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, Lee evaluated, "It was a courageous apology but a half-hearted one," adding, "It was confusing whether the apology was to apologize or to attack former Prosecutor General Yoon, so it failed to move the public."
Lee also advised former Prosecutor General Yoon, saying, "As a presidential candidate, constantly bringing up trivial political daily matters in the media will not help," and "When starting politics, you should not be conscious of elections or votes but approach it with a grand vision of how to govern the country, what is wrong with the current Moon Jae-in administration, and how the system should be reformed."
