Kim Hyungseok Photography Exhibition "Morocco, On the Road"
Photographer Kim Hyung-seok announced on the 5th that he will exhibit various moments he encountered on the streets of Morocco. Kim Hyung-seok has been working in Jeju for over 10 years, focusing on the resonance between nature and human emotions.
This photo exhibition is hosted by the complex cultural space Court, organized by Breeze SoSa Art, and sponsored by Africa Insight.
The artist describes the moments encountered on the streets of Morocco as “a communion with the beauty of time, a memory beyond the invisible scenes.”
On the road, there is the past, present, and future. On the road, there is me walking, the scorching midday sun, the shade of trees that have stood for hundreds of years, and wildflowers that took root last year. There are people filled with joy on the road, and people full of sorrow and anguish as well. On that road, we meet and look at each other. We simply freeze transparent time forever at a fair distance that does not interfere with each other. Therefore, the photos in ‘Morocco, On the Road’ resemble a theater stage more than a film that takes close-ups as needed. This becomes a crucial clue to regaining lost emotions later. (From the artist’s note)
During the exhibition period, various events are prepared to captivate the eyes and ears, including meetings with the artist, performances by Moroccan artist Omar and the African Dance Company TAGG, and screenings of the film Pegasus provided by the Korea-Africa Foundation and the Embassy of Morocco in Korea.
The solo exhibition will be held for two weeks from Saturday, May 29, 2021, to Sunday, June 13, 2021, on the 2nd floor ‘Inner Library’ of the complex cultural space [Insadong Court]. In addition to about 30 small framed pieces, visitors can experience works through a large projection show, panoramic works over 3 meters long, large canvas works, and a unique method of floating film above the space.
