Car Recall Information Now Available via App... Also Check When Buying Used Cars

Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to Provide Information to 8 Companies Including KB Capital Starting from the 4th

[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] From now on, vehicle owners will be able to easily check whether their vehicles are subject to recalls through vehicle management apps. Additionally, recall information can be checked via related apps when purchasing used cars.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that starting from the 4th, it will provide recall information to eight private companies including KB Capital, Cartool, Aton, BankSalad, Encar.com, Kakao Mobility, Hyundai Capital, and NICE DnR, in collaboration with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority.

This information provision is an additional opening following the release of recall information to Naver last October. It is a measure to allow confirmation of vehicle defects and recall status not only through the 'Automobile Recall Center (www.car.go.kr)' but also through various other channels.

The Ministry will first provide recall information to four companies: KB Capital, Cartool, Aton, and BankSalad. Within this month, recall information will be sequentially provided to the remaining four companies: Encar.com, Kakao Mobility, Hyundai Capital, and NICE DnR.

As a result, users of vehicle management apps or used car information apps will be able to check recall information for their own vehicles or for used cars they intend to purchase through the apps.

Kim Jeonghee, Director of Automobile Policy at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, stated, "Providing customized automobile recall information will make it easy to check whether a vehicle is subject to recall, contributing to an increase in correction rates. We will strive to ensure that automobile information is widely used through continuous public-private cooperation."
